    Windows Visual Quick Tips

www.mcfedries.comDear Mr. McFedries,I have purchased your book, Windows 7 Visual Quick Tips, and am very happy with my copy. There is one thing that  I cannot locate a tip about.I have HP Pavillion Windows Vista 64 bit updated to Windows 7 64 bit.It has 4 GB RAM & 500 GB hard drive. Also 2 (1 TB Externals).Under my previous versions of Windows, it was easily possible to save my Various email folders to  put a copy on a CD/DVD and also on external hard drives for reference. Many times I have received a request to send friends something they wanted but deleted or had a crash.
I have not found a tip in your book, or on Microsoft, showing how to accomplish this action.
My old way was:Select email folder. Such as Sent Items.Hilite Sent Items FolderHilite first Item in listGoto Select AllGoto Forward and left clickWait for fwd Then Click on fileAnd save as:  Sent ItemsI saved it to folder on my C Drive ‘Emails” dateWould repeat procedure for Deleted Items, John, Evelyn, Wayne, Dave, etc. They would all be listed and saved on hard drive in their email folder. Each saved folder would show me how large each was saved under one Hard drive folder.
When all folders were saved, it was easy to transfer to CD/DVD for keeping.
To retrieve:Put CD/DVD in my computer.Go to my C drive.Click on the Disc.On right side would list the above saved folders.Click the Sent Items and the list came upLocate the ones you want and click on it.I could select that which I was after and
Send friend what they had requested.
For some reason, I find that Windows 7 does not let me do this.Do you have any tip that would enable me to simulate this operation?Any help would be appreciated.Thank you for your time,John

PS: Try it on a computer that has no Win 7 on it.

    Re: Windows Visual Quick Tips

    Hi John,

Are you using Windows Live Mail? If so, then you can find the e-mail message store here:

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

Replace UserName with your Windows 7 user name. One of the subfolders you see contains the messages. although the name of the folder varies depending on your account. For example, on my system the folder is named "Mcfedries ( 48e". You'll know you've found the right folder if when you open it you see at least the following subfolders: Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, Junk E-mail, and Sent Items. These folders contain the individual message files.
